Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

This is an All-Ages event and we encourage families to come join the fun! You must be 21+ to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages on-site. Positive government issued ID is required and will be checked at the gate, where wristbands will be issued. Security will be present to ensure the Festival maintains a fun and safe atmosphere for everyone.

What are my transportation/parking options getting to the event?

Parking is available at the Festival site and is free before 6 pm Saturday and all day Sunday. If you drive in after 6 pm Saturday, parking is $5 per car. We encourage carpooling or even biking to the Festival site, which is located 2 miles due west of the roundabout intersection of Route 100 and Route 2 in Waterbury. CLICK HERE for exact instructions to the Festival location.

What can or can't I bring to the event?

Bring your appetite and your love for beer and BBQ. Also bring cash to purchase drinks, food and other items offered for sale. Bring your lawn chair or blanket if you want to hang out by the music stage. Bug spray for Saturday evening might also be a good idea.

Sorry, none of the following are allowed inside the Festival entrance: dogs, coolers, outside food or beverages (except parents for small children), laser pointers, fireworks, weapons of any kind, drugs, or drug paraphernalia. Non-adherence to these rules is grounds for dismissal.

Can I bring my dog? They're really well behaved!

Unfortunately no, with so many kids in attendance, we don't want to take a risk that a child or another animal might accidentally get hurt. Please leave your pets at home. (Licensed service dogs are of course welcome.)

I bought a One-Day Ticket -- can I use it either day?

Yes! Your 1-Day Pass is good either Saturday or Sunday.

Is smoking allowed on-site?

The Festival site is a tobacco-free environment. If you need to smoke or chew, you’re welcome to go out to the parking area outside the Festival grounds.

Are debit/credit cards accepted on-site?

This will be a cash-only event for entry and to pay for food at the various vendor booths. However, we will have an ATM available as you walk up to the gate entrance, so you can use your debit/credit card to easily get cash; the ATM will have a $3 service charge per transaction, plus whatever your individual bank may charge.

Can I try any of the barbecue from the competition?

Because this is a nationally sanctioned BBQ contest, only certified barbecue judges are allowed to judge the competitive entries on Saturday and Sunday. However, you'll be able to try BBQ from the teams several times over the weekend! On Saturday evening, the MacAuley's People's Choice Pulled Pork contest will take place and you'll be able to try complimentary samples (while they last) from different BBQ teams. On Sunday afternoon, BBQ teams will offer Competition Samples at a small cost. And several competitors will also be vending barbecue both days, so you'll get an idea of what their competition barbecue is like. All the BBQ teams and vendors will be recognized with special signage so you’ll know who is serving BBQ. For more information about how the BBQ competition works, CHECK OUT THIS PAGE.

How do I pay for food and drinks on-site?

All food can be purchased from food vendors, who will list a menu and pricelist. Our exclusive craft brew vendor for 2016 is Trapp's Brewing Company out of Stowe, VT.

How much does a portion of food cost?

Portions of food range from $3 to $12.

What time does each band play?

The full schedule of bands, family activities, and special guests are POSTED HERE. Like our Facebook page GreenMtnBBQ to keep up-to-date on all the latest Festival information.

What is the refund policy?

Admission tickets are non-refundable. This event operates rain or shine.

What if I don’t like barbecue; will there be anything else for me to eat on-site? Is there any kid-friendly food available?

Believe it or not, we’ll have food other than barbecue at the BBQ Festival, including food trucks offering localvore meats and vegetables, hamburgers & hot dogs, pizza, hand-cut fries, fresh-made lemonade, Greek, vegetarian, Bloomin' Onions, apple crisp desserts, hand-crafted ice cream, sauces to sample, and many many more.
